President of the European Olympic Committees Janez Kocijancic visited Belarus for the first time as head of the EOC. During the official visit, Kocijancic held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko. The main topic of discussion was the preparation of Belarus for the 2nd European Games 2019.

“This will be the best European Games. Because all Belarusians will live and breath this event. This will not be a local event. All our neighbors will be aware of the Olympics next door. All doors will be open to them. We will invite everyone who wants to visit our country. I guarantee you this,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

In turn, Janez Kocijancic expressed confidence that the European sports forum in Minsk will be held at the highest level:

“We are very satisfied with the way the preparations are going. We are on schedule. I am sure that European Games in Minsk will be the best in history.”

The 46 General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees completed its work in Zagreb. The Belarusian delegation led by the Director of the Foundation “Directorate of the 2nd European Games 2019” Georgy Katulin spoke about the progress of our country’s preparations for a major large-scale event. The reaction of the representatives of the European Olympic committees after the presentation gives clear reasons to believe that the EOC gave a good assessment of Belarus’ readiness for the 2nd European Games. The main issue of the assembly in Croatia was the election of the president of the organization. The acting president of the Slovenian Janez Kocijancic was unanimously elected. A lawyer by training, he headed the National Olympic Committee of Slovenia from 1991 to 2014, and since 1981 was a member of the board of the international federation of skiing. In 2010 he was elected vice-president of the organization. Kochianchich is a member of the Executive Council of the Ski Federation of Slovenia, and since 2013 – Vice President of the Executive Committee of the EOC

The Belarusian delegation arrived in Zagreb, Croatia to participate in the 46th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees. On November 24 at 13:30 Belarusian time the chairman of the coordinating commission of the 2nd European Games 2019 Spyros Kapralos will speak to the the audience and then the representatives of the Belarusian delegation led by the director of the foundation “Directorate of the 2nd European Games 2019” Georgy Katulin will tell about the preparations for the important event.
