Belarus to publish maps, guidebooks, mini encyclopedias ahead of 2019 European Games

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Belarus will publish maps, guidebooks, and mini encyclopedias for the guests and participants of the 2019 European Games, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Zharko said at the final board meeting of the Information Ministry on 5 February, BelTA has learned.

The Information Ministry is to decide on the list of printed products in the near future. The materials will be published in the Belarusian, Russian and other languages. According to Vasily Zharko, the target audience of the maps, guidebooks and small encyclopedias are the guests and participants of the Second European Games.

Vasily Zharko took stock of the performance of the sector in 2017 and welcomed a positive momentum in its development. He outlined a number of tasks for the Information Ministry in 2018, including the control over the mass media’s compliance with the national legislation, improvement of the economic performance and the organization of the Belarusian Written Language Day.

Canoe Sprint European Championships 2018 announced as qualifiers for the 2nd European Games 2019

The 2018 ECA Canoe Sprint European Championships due in Belgrade on 8-10 June will be a qualification event for the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019.
Team Belarus picked up four silver and two bronze medals at the 2017 European Canoe Sprint Championships. Belarusian athletes traditionally take part in all major international competitions and rank among the top teams. Kayak and canoe events will take place at a rowing canal in Zaslavl during the 2nd European Games to become the only competitions held outside Minsk. The program of the competitions can be found here

Spanish International Sports Broadcasting company will become the host broadcaster of the 2nd European Games 2019

Representatives of the Directorate of the 2nd European Games, the National Olympic committee, Belarus National State TV and Radio Company, as well as interested ministries and departments, examined in detail the proposals of all the applicants. Apart from Spanish ISB, the interest in broadcasting was voiced by Medialuso-Mediapro (Portugal) and Match TV (Russia). Price and experience are one of the main criteria when the commission made its decision. Also, great attention was given to the reputation of companies, their marketing appeal, the possibility of further implementation of media rights, financial guarantees and legacy. Belarusian specialists should be maximally involved in working process during the event.  

– The decision is made. Now the management of the 2nd European Games and ISB company are preparing a formal contract. This process is very painstaking and will take about two months, said Anatoly Kotov, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the 2nd European Games 2019.
