MEDIA PRESENCE OF THE 2ND EUROPEAN GAMES 2019 BRAND: A MELTWATER MONITORING

The success of the 2nd European Games 2019 was one of the key topics of discussion during the 48th General Assembly of the European Olympic committees (EOC) in Warsaw. The final report on the results and achievements in various functional areas was presented by members of MEGOC staff. In his turn, the Chairman of the EOC Coordination Commission Spyros Kapralos presented a report in which he expressed appreciation both of the friendliness of Belarus and of the highest level of the organisation of the 2nd European Games 2019 in Minsk.

Special attention during the Assembly was paid to the coverage of the 2nd European Games 2019 in Belarusian and foreign media. Local media played a key role in the promotion and popularisation of the brand of the 2nd European Games 2019, but the high interest of foreign media in the event in Minsk was also noted. A detailed report on the promotion of the multi-sports event and the host country made by Meltwater, an agency headquartered in the US and specialising in media monitoring and in analysis of media market, confirms this observation. Agency representatives were invited by the EOC to present their report. The results of their research confirmed the global nature of the high interest to the 2nd European Games 2019 and to Belarus.
