The attendance at the 2nd European Games in Minsk came at 88%, Ticketpro Director General Kirill Sushchinsky told journalists at the press conference.
“Belarus had never hosted such large-scale events before, that is why the ticket plan for the 2nd European Games was new to us. Belarusian companies came up with the design and 13 security levels for the tickets. They went on sale on 1 December 2018. The last ticket was bought on 30 June 2019. The 2nd European Games drew 232,000 sport fans, the attendance rate was at 88%. Tickets to 62 events sold out,” Kirill Sushchinsky said.
He also noted that the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games sold 17,500 tickets, and the closing ceremony 18,700 tickets. Kirill Sushchinsky said that tickets to seats with obstructed view were not available for sale to ensure comfort of all spectators.
The Minsk European Games Organizing Committee paid special attention to people with disabilities. “We had trained volunteers to work with such people, we tried to respond to their requests and provide comfortable seats for them at the sports venues,” Maksim Koshkalda, head of marketing and advertising at MEGOC, said. Maksim Koshkalda also told journalist that the 2nd European Games in Minsk attracted a total of over 812 million audience on social media.
Kseniya Repina, Head of the Marketing Department and PR at Artox Media Digital Group added that social media engagement was monitored with a special software. “The number of positive comments was over 125,000 and exceeded the number of negative ones six to one. We have also analyzed the number of mentions of the 2nd European Games as compared to the Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk. According to our data, the Universiade was mentioned 209,000 times, mostly by users from Russia. The 2nd European Games received 239,000 mentions, 41% of which was from abroad,” she said.
The Viber account of the 2nd European Games was one of the most popular social media accounts with a following of 500,000 users.
The events of the 2nd European Games were broadcast in 195 countries, attracting a 320 million audience. The TV audience outside Europe amounted to 111 million. Polish Polsat Group ranked first among broadcasters in terms of the event coverage having provided 286 hours of the 2nd European Games coverage on four channels. Belteleradiocompany placed second with 284 hours on three channels, excluding Belarus 5 Internet. The total amount of coverage of the 2nd European Games came at over 3,000 hours in Europe and over 1,000 in other parts of the world.
The 2nd European Games were held in Minsk on 21-30 June. Athletes competed for 200 medal sets in 15 sports. Belarusian athletes placed second in the medal table with 69 medals.
