GROUPS FOR 3x3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT AT 2ND EUROPEAN GAMES FORMED

The groups of the men's and women's 3x3 basketball tournaments at the 2nd European Games have been decided.

According to the rules of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), teams in 3x3 basketball competitions are split into groups not based on a draw, but rather according to the FIBA 3x3 Federation Ranking. 

The ranking of teams that qualified for the 2nd European Games was updated on May 3. After their individual rankings were set, the groups of the tournament were also determined.

After the group stage, the best teams will advance to the play-offs. 

In the quarterfinals, the pairs will be formed according to this model: A1-C2 (1st match), D1-B2 (2), B1-D2 (3), C1-A2 (4). The first pair of semi-finalists will be the winners of the first and second quarter-finals. The winners of the first two quarterfinals will form the first semifinal, while the winners of the third and fourth quarterfinal games will meet in the second semifinal. The winners of the semifinal matches will then fight for the gold medal, while the semifinal losers will contest the bronze.

The 3x3 basketball competitions at the 2nd European Games will be held from 21 to 24 June at Palova Arena. As the host, Belarus will be represented in both the men's and women's tournaments.
