Hrodna (Grodno) region is a land of a majestic castles and ruins of fortresses, bright houses and windmills, and landscapes of unique beauty. This region was home to many notable people who left their mark not only in the history of Belarus. The Belarusian-Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz and the national hero of Chile Ignacio Domeyko were born here, and here was held the wedding ceremony of Sophia of Halshany and Władysław II Jagiełło (Jogaila), which marked the beginning of the Jagiellon dynasty. The Kushner family, the ancestors of Donald Trump's son-in-law, ran business in this region until World War II. Navahrudak, the first capital of Grand Duchy of Lithuania, is also in Hrodna region.
